Human or animal bites: co-amoxiclav 625mgTDS 7/7

Penicillin allergy:

• Animal bite: metro PLUS doxy

• Human bite: metro PLUS clarithro

Animal OR human bite in child <12Y: metro AND clarithro.

Pregnant/BF: co-amoxi

Assess rabies risk & check tetanus status.

Human bites: assess HIV/HepB/C risk.

Animal bites: Cat: always Abx.

Other: abx if puncture wound, bite involving hand, foot, face, joint, tendon, ligament, immunocomp, DM, elderly, asplenic, cirrhotic, prosthetic valve or joint.
