Screening

• F: lower vaginal swab (LVS) - charcoal; G/C - orange

• M: urine (G/C - white/yellow; urethral swab - white

Symptoms

• British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), STI symptoms that need checking (NHS Choices)

• Urethritis: Urethritis - male (CKS), Non-specific urethritis (NHS Choices)​

• STIs may co-exist therefore consider screening for other STIs if positive for one or more STIs. Screening should include: Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Syphilis (and TV if patients or their partner are Black African/Caribbean). Test Hepatitis B/C in high risk groups.
