• Bleeding blood vessel under conjunctiva

• A history of minor trauma or coughing/sneezing/vomiting/straining may precede its occurrence. (consider ophthalmology review)? 

• Review medications

• Check BP  in case hypertension is a contributory factor

• 1 drop of proxymetacaine 0.5% with fluorescein 0.25%, observe corneal staining with blue light

• Should resolve in 1-2 weeks with no treatment

• If bodily bruising is present, or the condition is recurring, blood tests should be carried out to eliminate a blood dyscrasia.
